The Dallas Cowboys require greatness at the Quarterback position

To All Tony Romo fans, it was never implied that Mr. Romo is not a good QB. I think he is, however this is the Dallas Cowboys, where QBs are measured in terms of great leadership, and Super Bowl(S) won.

The Dallas Cowboys require greatness at the Quarterback position, very good will always be sub-par.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones with THE Stat

Roger Staubach was Super Bowl MVP at age 30 (3rd year as a starter), and of course this was after serving five years of active duty in the US Navy.
Troy Aikman was Super Bowl MVP at age 27 (4th year as a starter).

These shall forever remain the standards of starting QBs for the Dallas Cowboys. And Leadership is a prominent requisite. Mr. Aikman earned the respect required to lead his team by standing tall in the pocket for all of the first 11 games of that (1-15) 1989 season. He never pointed fingers, favored his BFF, or gave up on his teammates. They in turn never gave up on him for years to come.
Roger Staubach’s leadership qualities are at an iconic level, and are well documented. To put it quite simply, he is a true sports hero.

You have to love Jerry Jones.

I mean would you have him stand up and admit that many in the Cowboys administration, coaching staff, and locker room do not believe in Mr. Romo? Before you reply, recall the Indianapolis Colts did basically the same in regards to Peyton Manning’s replacements in the 2011 season (Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky). The results were painful to witness.

At this point, even people with a minimal football IQ realize that after 9 years as a Cowboy, clearly Mr. Romo is not the QB/Leader the Dallas Cowboys need. Perhaps there is no greater testimony to this fact than in 2011 Mr. Romo had his best statistical season ever, yet the Dallas Cowboys only managed a .500 record.

“Statistics Are For Losers”

The only statistic that matters in the NFL (No Fun Loosing) is not an individual statistic at all. It is a Team statistic. The one that measures Championships won. In Eli Manning’s case, this would be a 2-0 lead over Mr. Romo, accompanied by two Superbowl MVP trophies, which would strongly imply that Eli Manning actually lead his team to those championships.

One would think that this would put Eli Manning in an entirely different football universe than Mr. Romo, and certainly makes the New York Giants organization look genius for doing whatever necessary in 2004 to acquire Eli Manning (e.g. Robert Griffin III or Andrew Luke). Mind you that 2004 Giants team already had Kurt Warner on it’s roster.

A Bold decision.. A Championship decision

Dallas Cowboys adding Peyton Manning would be Genius

I first wrote and published this in Sports Illustrated’s FanNation January 31 , 2012, which was almost 3 months before Peyton Manning signed with Denver.

It would be a stroke of genius for the Dallas Cowboys to send Tony Romo and his golf clubs to the Indianapolis Colts, in exchange  for Peyton Manning.

Not only will it make the Dallas Cowboys an immediate Super Bowl favorite for the next 3 years; American football fans the world over would get a chance to see what would surly be the highest rated regular season TV sports events ever…. The Manning Bowls (Cowboys -vs- Giants).. Twice a Year.. Awesome.

An elite QB/Leader has long been the most vital missing ingredient in Jerry Jones and the legions of Cowboys supporters quest to bring more Lombardi Trophies home to Dallas.

We would have the added motivation of what may be the best QB ever arriving to Dallas with a chip on his shoulder and feeling unappreciated by his former team he was so faithful to. This form of personal motivation to succeed immediately is priceless to a coaching staff, and it is highly contagious. We won’t even start with the true leadership he brings to the table.

This is a perfect fit, but the window shall be open only briefly.

Time To Make Championship Decisions.

Welcome Back Michael Vick

Written October 24, 2009 at 1:25 PM

Sports illustrated asked us laymen to share our opinion of Michael Vick’s reinstatement into the NFL and signing with the Philadelphia Eagles… This was my reply.

Well, as long as Michael Vick limits any future criminal activities to only abusing (Ben Roethlisberger – Rape accusation), or murdering (Donte’ Stallworth -murder) Humans; we can all rest assured that America won’t all gather together again in a frantic blood-lust demanding that he be imprisoned and stripped of the very profession he uses to feed his children.

This Blood-Lust was lead by P.E.T.A. , which apparently stands for Please Expose your T.s and A, from what I have seen of that organization’s attempt to bring attention to their cause.

I love dogs… Animals of all kinds.. And I do not condone any abuse on any level. But I love humans more.

I always felt that a just penalty for Mr. Vick’s previous involvement in the dog fighting ring would have been for him to fund the construction of a new Animal Hospital. This surely would have helped more animals and humans the likes. But placing an elite athlete in prison for two years of his prime for a crime against an Animal (while allowing others to blow animals’ brains all over our Forrest floors in the name of “hunting” ) is both hypocritical and as sick as the “sport” of dog fighting itself.

This I do know.. Tony Dungy doesn’t sign off on Mr Vick, if he did not believe in his character.

Welcome back Mr. Vick… Time to remind all just why you were the highest paid.
